Having dined at the best restaurants in 25+ destinations within India, if you asked me which one’s my top pick, I would instantly say Moturam Prasadam in Jaipur. Yes, our experience here ranks higher than some of the most luxurious restaurants we have eaten at!

Located in the posh C Scheme area of the pink city, Sri Moturam Prasadam serves traditional Indian food and specializes in thalis. But, what was it about the restaurant that swept me off my feet? I will share all those details in this article. Let’s begin.

The Best Part About Sri Moturam Prasadam, Jaipur

As we opened the temple-style door and walked in, it seemed like we were transported to a divine space. Spiritual hymns playing on one corner filled the air with a holy aura. The staff, dressed in yellow kurtas (traditional Indian attire), served every table with a humble smile.

The menu featured huge thalis that were called bhog, a term used for food served to God during pujas in the Hindu culture.

Slowly, the place started to justify its name. We truly felt we were at a temple waiting for our prasadam – offerings made to the almighty that are later eaten by devotees. Though we are not religious at all, it was this unique vibe that left a lasting impression in our minds.

TWT Trivia: Several celebrities such as Zareen Khan and Terrence Lewis have dined at the restaurant for their authentic thalis.

The Ambience & Interiors At Sri Moturam Prasadam, Jaipur

The facade of the restaurant itself resembled a temple, with Lord Vishnu’s tilak motifs painted across the saffron and blue-colored entrance. A golden bell hung in front of the large blue door.

Inside, the tables were placed quite close to each other. But the place was absolutely full, with just 1 empty table that we occupied.

As we sat, we saw happy faces enjoying their meals out of the huge thalis. Each item was placed in a Sal leaf bowl, usually used in temples to serve prasadam to devotees.

Food & Drinks At Sri Moturam Prasadam, Jaipur

Moturam Prasadam offers both à-la-carte options and a variety of set thalis. One of the highlights of their menu is the Sri Chappan Bhog, a massive thali with 50+ items that costs INR 5,100! Thankfully, the thalis can be shared.

You will also find several smaller yet wholesome thalis, such as Marwari Bhog, Jodhpuri Thali and Shraman Bhog (free of onion and garlic). Being a vegan, I naturally opted for the Vegan Bhog and it came in a large thali with the following items:

  • Welcome Drink – This was a refreshing mint-based cooler that built up our appetite for the lavish meal.
  • Aloo Bonda – Spiced mashed potato filling enveloped in a chickpea flour batter and deep-fried, it didn’t seem too oily and had a slightly crisp coating.
  • Fried Idli – Perfectly seasoned, the idlis were soft and exuded a dhokla-like flavor.
  • Sabudana Khichdi – One of the best parts of the thali, it was so simple yet delicious. The roasted peanuts offered a refreshing crunch to the dish.
  • Aloo Chaat – Coated with tangy & spicy masalas, the potatoes were an absolute delight.
  • Dal Tadka – The dish reminded us of home, with the perfect balance of flavors and subtlety.
  • Mix Veg Curry – Laden with tomato-based masalas, it paired perfectly with the rotis.
  • Palak Corn Curry – This one too teamed beautifully with the rotis and the taste was spot on.
  • Chana Masala – Another one of my favorites from the thali, the masala was flavorful and the chickpeas were soft and melting in the mouth.

There were also bowls of steamed rice, papad, thecha, wheat roti and missi roti, which altogether made the plate well-rounded and complete.

TWT Tip: They allow sharing of thalis among your companions. So you might want to start with ordering just 1 thali first if you don’t have a huge appetite.
