I distinctly remember the mysterious aura when we first entered Brown Town Resort. As we drove past the rustic brown gates, flanked by earthy brick walls and dense foliage, it was hard to guess what awaited us inside. The entrance was built in such a way that it offered no chance to peek for an outsider.
When we reached the huge parking space and headed towards the reception, we were taken aback by the visuals — in between the lush greenery and pebbled walkways, there were little ducks lounging on the lawn, a stone-carved Buddha sculpture sat on one corner, while gazebos in the garden invited us in.
As we walked further to check in, there were traditionally-roofed brown cottages juxtaposed with Palm, Coconut and Frangipani trees. The beauty of the place was further accentuated with fully-bloomed white and pink Plumerias and Hibiscus flowers hanging throughout the resort. Altogether, they transported us to a different world.
Come, let me take you on a detailed virtual tour of Brown Town resort, one of the best staycations in Hyderabad. Let’s begin with the best parts.

Top 3 Highlights Of Our Stay At Brown Town Resort Hyderabad
# The ambience
Brown Town Resort is the perfect amalgamation of traditional designs and rich flora in a modern setting. The ambience of the resort makes for a refreshing and eye-pleasing getaway for Hyderabadis looking to take a break from the city’s hustle-bustle.
Be it the walkways lined by lush green flowering trees on both sides, the authenticity and design of all their cottages, the open-air restaurant, or the sprawling lawns, the resort is a visual treat.
# The ducks
You will see at least 10-15 ducks at all times around the resort, sometimes busy drinking water from the tiny ponds, strolling around with their group at other times, just swimming in the ponds in the morning hours, or relaxing away.
It was so heartening to see how the ducks and the resort’s guests co-existed in harmony without disturbing each other.
# The activities
We were never bored in the resort despite staying for 2 nights & 3 days. It was partly because of the amazing number of activities they have on offer. I will share more details on this a little later in the article.
The Rooms At Brown Town Resort Hyderabad
Brown Town Resort offers 19 luxury villas and 14 rooms, each designed with unique themes. For instance, the Wayanad Suites, which we could see from the outside, aped a traditional Kerala home. Wooden pillars stood tall in the porch, while antique decor elements and lounging chairs exuded old-world charm.
If you are going with family and friends, there are enough cottages with adjacent rooms or rooms on the top and bottom floor of one cottage that can be occupied by your group. For very large groups, they also have villas with 10 beds!
We stayed in the Himalayan Suite, and having traveled to Himachal Pradesh recently, I can vouch for the fact that the cottage’s design felt authentic. The room was built with rustic wooden logs and a high gable-roof. Soft, warm lighting elevated its beauty and added a touch of elegance to the space.
The room also had a porch with a sitout, where we meditated, ate a few meals and just spent time relishing the beauty of the surrounding greenery and melodies of the birds. One afternoon, we also had 2 special hungry guests (roosters) who were happy to peck on some nibbles from our lunch.
All the essential amenities like tea sachets, kettle, AC, fan, and cupboard space were present in the room, while the bathroom had a partitioned shower area with all the essential toiletries. The resort also offers 2 complimentary bottles in the room for each day.
TWT Tip: They charge a bomb for water bottles (INR 150 for a 1 liter bottle). However, they have placed water filters in the restaurant as well as the reception area. So both economically and ecologically, it would be smarter to bring your own bottles. We used ours to fill water regularly instead of purchasing their plastic bottles every time.
The Food At Brown Town Resort Hyderabad
Their menu offers mainly Indian cuisine, with a few American and Chinese dishes. Their strength definitely lies in the north Indian food, as most of them turned out to be delicious. We were also glad that they were open to customizing and making my food dairy-free (since I am a vegan).
Here’s a summary of what we tried and liked from the A-la-carte menu:
Kashmiri Pulao – We tried this dish for the first time and the moment it landed on our table, we were wowed by its presentation. The pulao was heavily garnished with little pieces of caramelized apples, cherries, pomegranates, pineapples and fried onions. Our first thought was that it’ll be sweet and we won’t like it. But despite the sweetness, we fell in love with the burst of flavors. All those unusual elements offered pulao such a distinct yet pleasant taste.
Veg Manchurian Gravy with Garlic Naans – One of my favorite combos since childhood, I revisited the dish and loved the fact that their gravy was subtly spiced with a hint of sweetness. The Garlic Naans were done to perfection and garnished with coriander leaves, which added another dimension of flavor to the strong garlic and burning from the tandoor.
Alu Gobi with Garlic Tandoori Roti – The curry, laced with delicious tomato-based gravy, and tender pieces of potatoes and cauliflower, paired perfectly with the flavorful and soft garlic rotis.
Mudda Pappu Avakai Annam – This was part of a special menu they had put up on Friday night. As ghee was premixed in it, I couldn’t taste it. But my husband tried the dish, since it is one of his all-time favorites. He said the avakai (mango pickle) element was missing in the dish and he could only taste the pappu (lentil). This is one of the reasons I felt South Indian food is not their strength.
The breakfast buffet had Idli, Vada, Upma, breads, jam, cereals, fruits, watermelon juice, an Indian sweet and a live Dosa & Poori counter on the first day. The live counter at the restaurant ensured that we got hot pooris and dosas on our plate.
However, both the potato curries (of poori & masala dosa) could have had a bit more salt and flavor. Another disappointing part was that the breakfast buffet on the second day also had the exact same menu, except that the Upma was replaced by Pongal.
We also had wanted to order Woodfired Pizza mentioned on their menu, but it was not available unfortunately.
Activities At Brown Town Resort Hyderabad
As mentioned in the highlights section, the activities here make the resort all the more interesting. They have bicycle rides on offer, e-bikes on rent, and a pool table, table tennis table and carroms in the indoor games room.
In the outdoor games area, you can play cricket, basketball, and badminton. They also have archery with an additional charge, besides slides and swings for kids.
Apart from these, duck-watching, flower-watching, and nature walks are also some of the activities I thoroughly enjoyed here.
Other Services & Amenities At Brown Town Resort Hyderabad
The resort houses a quaint spa set in an antique cottage. They also have a large pool and mini pool for kids, wheelchairs and buggy rides. We also found a bonfire area and barbecue setup, but they were not being used during our stay. There’s also a huge lawn and enough spots for photoshoots, besides indoor and open-air banquet areas.
Pros & Cons At Brown Town Resort Hyderabad
Pros: Everything from the way we were welcomed with a refreshing Strawberry drink, to the walkways, sit-outs amidst dense foliage, beauty of their cottages, groups of ducks, and a plethora of activities made our stay here memorable.
Cons: The ridiculous charge of water bottles, even though they were just sealed in-houses bottles and not from any fancy brand, was the main con according to us. Also, non-availability of pizzas, almost-same breakfast menu on both days, and a leakage issue in the bathroom were slightly disappointing.
I also wanted to bring back my fur baby here another time. But it was disappointing to know that they don’t allow pets. Also there was no TV in the room, which my husband had a problem with.
TWT Experience Summary Of Brown Town Resort Hyderabad
Despite staying here for 3 days already, will I go back to this resort? I certainly will, but only if they start allowing pets. This is because I want my fur baby to also enjoy their lush green space, huge variety of trees, sprawling lawns and the gorgeous ducks around the property. Other than that, it’s also a great space to simply spend a weekend, with so many games and activities on offer, wheelchairs for the elderly and specially-abled guests, pool and spa for rejuvenation and delicious food on offer. The resort is a perfect place for a digital detox.
