I have been to The Weekend Cafe, Hyderabad at least 6-7 times over the last 2 years. Why, you ask?

Well, in a city like Hyderabad with very limited vegan food options, here came a cafe offering the juiciest and most delicious mock chicken burgers, wraps, cakes and shakes — all 100% plant-based!

So for a vegan, who is also a major foodie, The Weekend Cafe obviously has been a blessing. But soon after they launched 3 years ago, the cafe also became a hit among Hyderabad’s non-vegan community, who first came here only out of curiosity, but eventually fell in love with their food and the vibe.

Located at Karkhana, Secunderabad, The Weekend Cafe is clearly one of my favorite eateries and the best vegan cafe in Hyderabad for fast food. Find out about the cafe’s must-have dishes, ambience and more from this article.

The Best Part About The Weekend Cafe Hyderabad

1. It has to be their burgers! The city’s foodies can’t stop raving about how close The Weekend Cafe’s burgers are to the real meat variants despite being plant-based. Many people, including me, call their burgers the perfect vegan answer to McDonalds.

And while most folks go ga-ga over their mock meat patties, it’s their in-house sauces used in the burgers that seal the deal for me every time. The burgers are filled with a lip-smacking spiced mayonnaise and vegan cheese sauce that offers them such mouth watering flavors.

2. The next best part about The Weekend Cafe, for me, is their chocolate-based desserts — Mud Cake and Brookies. The latter is only available on pre-order, but the Mud Cake can be ordered off their everyday menu.

The dense and fluffy texture of the vegan Dark Chocolate Mud Cake topped with a sweeter and gooey ganache, makes the dessert worth every penny. On the other hand, the Brookies (brownies baked in the shape and size of cookies) are soft on the inside, with a crisp and crumbly outer coating.

Besides the textures, what offers these sweet treats such a distinct and rich flavor is the chocolate they use. The Weekend Cafe sources their chocolates from a Godavari-based farm-to-bar chocolate brand called Nui.

Ambience At The Weekend Cafe Hyderabad

The Weekend Cafe is set in a two-storey bungalow, with the top floor dedicated to their laid back cafe, while the ground floor houses their quick service restaurant called F.O.FF (Future Of Fast Food).

The ambience at the bottom floor is quirky, with the walls featuring colorful paintings of their burger mascot – Mr.Foff. The color palette is bold and funky with bright greens, purples, yellows and blacks.

But as you take the stairs to go to their first floor, you are transported to a calmer, slower and more serene space with lush green plants, book shelves, and white walls. They also have an open-air seating area, which is beautifully lit up with string lights in the evenings.

I personally love the indoor space in the upstairs cafe, where you can cozy up with your favorite book or chill with your gang in an informal setting while relishing the food.

Food & Drinks At The Weekend Cafe Hyderabad

The menu at The Weekend Cafe is extensive, with everything from pizzas, rice bowls, toasts, coffees, milkshakes, smoothies, starters, wraps, desserts and of course the burgers. They are mostly freshly made after your order.

On the other hand, F.O.FF (ground floor) features a smaller menu, with a few burgers, wraps, colas, softies (only vegan ones in Hyderabad) and milkshakes that are served to you within 8-10 minutes. The prices here are also more affordable compared to the upstairs menu.

However, they keep reviving the menu with some deletions and additions every now and then. So you might find newer names if you are visiting after a while.

Here are all the dishes we tried during our multiple visits:

Upstairs:

Weekender Burger – Their OG burger and everyone’s favorite, including mine, it is created with their signature seitan and delectable sauces sandwiched between their soft, in-house burger buns.

Crispy Weekender Sandwich – This is made with the same seitan and sauces, except that it’s put in a grilled sandwich — equally yummy!

Signature Piri Piri Wings – Cauliflower florets deep fried in batter for a crisp outer coating. They are perfectly seasoned and crunchy.

Vegan Meat Mushroom Burger – Created with shredded vegan meat and mushrooms coupled with their sauces, this burger does not disappoint either.

Turkish Shawarma Wrap – One of their heaviest dishes (just half of it filled me up), the soft wrap with pita bread-like texture is filled with a flavorful grilled plant-based meat and their signature sauces.

Roasted Mushroom & Hummus Toast – A beautifully soft sourdough toast topped with their in-house hummus, mushrooms and sesame seeds, this one’s a delight for mushroom lovers.

Butterscotch Jar Cake – Ever since I turned vegan, this was the first time in 4 years I was having a butterscotch cake and that itself delighted me thoroughly. The taste and texture of the cake added to the experience.

Biscoff Frappe – One of my favorite flavors in this whole wide world, biscoff when combined with coffee, made for a refreshing and delicious drink.

Chocolate Mud Cake – Already explained in the best part section, this is one of my favorite dishes from the cafe.

Brookies – Another one of my favorites here as explained earlier and needs to be pre-ordered.

Ground floor:

Japanese Katsu Burger – Probably the only burger that can give competition to their original Weekender Burger, the crisp patty coated with deep fried breadcrumbs was an absolute delight.

Cheesy Loaded Fries – Topped with mock chicken bits, the fries were slightly soggy due to the generous dose of cheese in it, but the taste was on point.

Oreo Milkshake – A milkshake made with oreo biscuits can never go wrong and this vegan version, created with oat milk, was delicious and paired perfectly with the burgers.

Shroom Shroom – These deep-fried mushrooms with a crisp coating were done to perfection.

TWT Tip: If you love cakes just like I do, they serve a little piece of tea cake with their coffees. So to try those little bites of deliciousness, order a coffee here.
