Riyanka got the itch to travel while she was working as a fellow for a social development program in Rajasthan. As part of her work, she had to travel across various villages and towns. Slowly, she started writing stories of the people living in India’s most secluded parts. It didn’t take long for her to realize that happiness for her was to discover new places and cultures. Eventually, she chose to pursue travel writing as a full-time profession.

Over the last 8 years, Riyanka has traveled across various Southeast Asian nations, including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Indonesia. She has also volunteered at a childcare center in Nairobi, Kenya, for a month and extensively explored the national parks of the country. She fosters a baby elephant at David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage in Nairobi as well.

An avid mountain-lover, Riyanka often escapes to the mountains, hiking along nature trails or sipping on Honey-Lemon-Ginger tea while reading Ruskin Bond books. She has written for various travel magazines and websites, including Tripoto and Vistara’s in-flight magazine. Her main focus is on experiential travel guides, eco-tourism, and volunteering trips. With dreams of telling stories from across the world, Riyanka also writes about her journey on Roy Tells Tales.
