2. Tuya
Started by award-winning chef Suresh DC, Tuya is a new South Indian restaurant in Hyderabad that blends international techniques in traditional south delicacies.
You’ll get to try unique south Indian dishes like Goa’s Sannas, Mangalorean Jackfruit Gassi, Coorgi Malanad Mushroom.

4. Mahamudra
Mahamudra is one of the few south Indian restaurants in Hyderabad that serves some authentic dishes from Tamil Nadu. With a focus on healthy and organic eating, their menu offers dishes such as Kanji, Red Rice Appam and Wheat Thali.

5. Taaza Kitchen
I’ve been a huge fan of Taaza Kitchen ever since I tasted their Bangalore-style dosas. Since then, I’ve probably dined here more than 20 times.
Their crisp dosas with airy and spongy inner sides make them truly irresistible, when paired with their delicious coconut-coriander chutney. They also serve many other Bangalore-style South Indian tiffins, including Idli, Chow Chow Bath, and Vada. Plus, their affordable prices and hygiene practices make them a crowd favorite.

6. Hanwin Kerala Cafe
I remember having one of the most authentic and delicious Sadhya in Hyderabad at this restaurant during Onam. It was an elaborate affair with more than 15+ items, including Kerala rice, banana chips, Pappadam and more.
On regular days, they serve all the popular Kerala specialties such as Appam, Idiyappam, Parotta, Kadala Curry, and Puttu.

7. Dakshin
A South Indian restaurant in Hyderabad’s 5-star hotel ITC Kakatiya, Dakshin has different sections on their menu dedicated to each South Indian state.

8. Malabar Kitchen

This is a small and underrated eatery that serves delicious Kerala cuisine, sans any fancy ambience. We have ordered food from here several times and my entire family loves their Appams, Parotta, Kadala Curry and Mushroom Curry. They also serve Sadhya during Onam festival.

We love the beautifully-lit outdoor ambience of Chennapatnam in the evenings. And their South Indian tiffins such as Mysore Bajji, Dosa and Challa Punugulu are truly fantastic. We have also seen diners bring their pets along in the open area.

10. Rayalaseema Ruchulu

Rayalaseema Ruchulu has been a family-favorite restaurant for more than a decade. Despite being Bengalis, both my dad and mom thoroughly enjoy the fiery Telugu-style dishes whipped up here.
Some of our personal favorite dishes from here are the Ragi Sankati, Guthi Vankaya and Ulavacharu. Their thalis are amazing as well.

11. Rameshwaram Cafe
Who wouldn’t know about Rameshwaram Cafe today? The upscale tiffin centre concept, which is renowned for its massive success in Bangalore, opened its Hyderabad outlet in 2024. Though the response has been mixed, Rameshwaram Cafe mostly remains full.
They serve a variety of dosas, idlis, vada, rotis, puri and more recently, they have started serving rice meals as well. A few aspects I personally like about this place is their hygiene standards, copper water filter system, and the fact that they offer lesser-found South Indian dishes such as Red Rice Puttu, Neer Dosa, and Akki Roti.

12. Arambam
Arambam is a South Indian restaurant for Hyderabad’s health-conscious folks. Started by actress Rakul Preet, the place serves a variety of millet-based dishes such as Ragi Idli, Millet Dosa, Millet Ponganalu and Multigrain Roti.
I had visited this restaurant right after they had launched. We found the Millet Punugulu, Ragi Dosa and their chutneys to be quite delicious.

If you’re looking for pure Andhra-style meals, Subbayya Gari Hotel is a popular restaurant from Kakinada that has been making waves ever since it opened in Hyderabad a decade ago.

If you’ve watched Masterchef Telugu, you know who chef Chalapathi Rao is. He has been running the restaurant called Simply South for several years now.

Itlu is a pure veg restaurant that serves some lip-smacking dishes from the Telugu states. Besides age-old delicacies such as Ragi Sankati With Pachi Pulusu and Mudda Pappu Avakai Annam, the restaurant also offers dishes with an interesting take on non-vegetarian foods.
For instance, they do a veg kheema pulao using soya and fish preparations using raw banana.
But my personal favorite is the spicy liver fry that they make using amaranth leaves. The traditional South Indian ambience also adds to the dining experience here.

As the name suggests, this restaurant serves authentic Telugu flavors amidst interiors that have a touch of Andhra Pradesh — thanks to the ikat fabrics featured on their furniture.
Their signature vegetarian starter, Teluguness Pudina Mushroom, had a subtle tangy-spicy flavor with hints of mint leaves. The Mokka Jonna Garelu, Vankaya Kura and Veg Pulao were equally delightful and bursting with flavors.

I personally love the fact that Kadali serves some lesser-found dishes such as Garelu (deep-fried savory donuts) made with banana flowers and Radish Cutlets.
