Being a Bengali born and brought up in Hyderabad, pandal hopping has been an annual family ritual during Durga Puja.
And I can safely say on behalf of the numerous Bengalis living in this city — Durga Puja is an emotional festival for us. It’s a celebration of our roots, faith, culture and traditions, which we try to keep alive despite living away from our ancestral land.
So, allow me to take you through the 10 most popular durga puja pandals of Hyderabad, including my favorite one and the highlights of each of them. Also find out what you can expect in the 2026 Durga Puja celebrations, scheduled from October 17th to October 21st.
Contents
1. Bangiya Sanskritik Sangha (Secunderabad)

This has been one of the most crowded durga puja pandals of Hyderabad for the last 60 years. The Bangiya Sanskritik Sangha celebrations at Keyes High School curates a fantastic cultural show, with at least one major playback singer performing every year. They also have a huge number of food stalls, with some specially flown in from West Bengal.
TWT Tip: Try the rare and indulgent Bengali street delicacy called Dhakai (Bangladeshi) Porota here at the food stalls of Keyes High School Durga Puja. It is a huge layered puri filled with yellow peas-potato curry, spices & salad! You won’t find it anywhere else in Hyderabad and it’s a flavor bomb.

2. Utsab Cultural Association (Gachibowli)

My personal favorite, Utsab Cultural Association organizes a pet-friendly Durga Puja Pandal in Gachibowli, which is popular among IT folks. The puja venue offers enough space for our fur babies to move around. Plus, I love some of the authentic Bengali food stalls that they bring in from Kolkata.
TWT Tip: Don’t miss trying some of the lesser-found Bengali dishes here, such as Mochar Chop (banana flower croquettes) and Koraishutir Kochuri (fried flat bread stuffed with green pea filling) with Alu Dom (bengali style potato curry).

Hello, it would be great if you can add about the Durga Puja Parikrama we would be hosting which is a unique concept for bengalis in Hyderabad to get a glimpse of Durga Puja pandals across the city.
Hi, this sounds interesting! Would love to add about it. Could you please share more details on editor@thewandertherapy.com ?
hello Ma’am – I recently moved to Hyderabad in my mind 40’s after spending quite a few years outside India, and then at Bangalore and Mumbai. I had started my career back in 2004 in Hyderabad and had moved out in 2006 … the Hyderabad that I see now is so different than what I had experienced then – and for better (which is difficult to say for other cities). Although I have been out of Kolkata for the last so many years (close to 20), the heart is still a bengali’s .. although I do feel a difference nowadays between my bangaliyana and Kolkata’s bangaliyana … nonetheless staying connected to Bengalis and especially being part of Durga Puja has been a ritual and something that we look forward to.
I can say hands down that your blog here is one of the best for any one wanting to know about the Durga Puja locations at Hyderabad. Thanks for posting this.
I wish I could find a similar post of places to visit with family for a couple of days in a radius of 5-7 hours from Hyderabad (I think this is one shortcoming of staying at Hyderabad compared to Pune, Mumbai or Bangalore)
Hi Kanishka, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Hope you had a great Durga Puja. And I totally agree that Hyderabad has very few getaway options within 5-7 hours, compared to other cities. But we do have a blog regarding ideal getaway options from Hyderabad that you might find helpful. Here’s the link – https://thewandertherapy.com/best-weekend-getaways-from-hyderabad-on-a-low-budget/
