Best 100% Vegan Restaurants Of India
India currently has tons of vegan eateries, which have been redefining the plant-based food game by offering innovative, delectable and wholesome dishes. Here are the 100% vegan restaurants in India that are currently functioning and thriving:
- Vibrant Living

Despite being a completely healthy vegan cafe with no junk options, Vibrant Living’s food tastes surprisingly delicious. In fact, I’d never expected to like their Raw Food Pizzetta, cheesecake, millet breads or ragi cookies. But, I was quite awestruck after tasting them.
Started by Hyderabad’s popular nutritionist Sridevi Jasti, Vibrant Living is a store-cum-cafe where you can also buy a huge variety of plant-based groceries and snacks. One of the best parts is that you can also sample the products before purchasing.

TWT Tip: They have also started weekend brunches with a different menu every week. So if you happen to visit on Saturday or Sunday, plan your visit in the afternoon as you’ll get to try a huge variety of healthy, plant-based delicacies.
- Terrassen Cafe

Remember that feeling you get when you listen to some soothing and soulful music? Terrassen Cafe is like that warm hug on a cold day. They handpick unique local dishes from various corners of India and the world, and then give them a plant-based twist.
I have personally witnessed the cafe’s journey over the years, as they navigated the challenges of sustaining in Hyderabad’s low-demand vegan food space. Eventually, they moved to Pondicherry and have been thriving, thanks to the huge number of plant-based patrons there.

Another endearing aspect about Terrassen’s food is that they have always believed in slow cooking and using sprouted heirloom flours, which makes their food quite unique.
- Plant Pot

Imagine savoring mouth watering vegan food in front of the pristine, untouched Himalayas. That’s Plant Pot for you — a plant-based cafe and homestay in Himachal Pradesh’s quaint village, Shangarh.
One dish from here I can never forget is their vegan pancakes, which is not easy to crack. I’ve had disappointing experiences at several places before. But the classic pancakes at Plant Pot were simply outstanding — fluffy and soft with a generous drizzle of maple syrup. They also offer heartwarming soups, momos, pizzas, desserts and a lot more.

So honestly, I went with the expectations that the dishes might taste average. But to my pleasant surprise, every dish was incredibly delectable — be it the Sabudana Vadas that were roasted instead of being fried, or the smooth Phirni made with coconut milk.

Top Vegan-Friendly Restaurants In India (With Marked Options)
As a vegan, I know we love eateries that offer a ton of plant-based options, rather than just 1 or 2 odd vegan salads on the menu. So, I’ve curated a list of vegan-friendly restaurants and cafes that have several clearly-marked vegan options on their menus. Here are some of the best among them:
- Burma Burma

With over an 80% plant-based menu approximately, Burma Burma has been one of the most vegan-friendly restaurants of India. They have a separate menu on which the vegan dishes are clearly marked. Plus, each and every vegan dish here is soothing and heavenly.
Being a huge fan of coconut-based and complex food flavors, I’ve dined at Burma Burma several times in multiple cities, including Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
Place: Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Gurgaon & Kolkata
TWT Tip: While their food is outstanding, don’t miss trying their teas when you visit. From subtle white teas with hidden flavor profiles to black, green and floral teas, there are a plethora of interesting options to choose from. I was blown away after tasting the Burma Burma signature tea blend, which had surprising undertones of peaches and orange.
- Bread & Chocolate

Bread & Chocolate is another one of my all-time favorite cafés in India & among Auroville’s iconic eateries. Over 80-90% of their menu is vegan with some of the most delectable plant-based sandwiches, cakes, chocolates and beverages.
I’ve been here during both my trips to Pondicherry and I’m the biggest fan of their Orange Cake, Tofu Scramble Open Toast, B&C Chocolate Chiller and the vegan chocolates from their brand Mason & Co.

- Coromandel Cafe

If you asked me which is the best vegan pizza I’ve ever eaten, I would say the Vegan Margarita Pizza at Coromandel Cafe without blinking.
One of the most popular and visually stunning cafés of Pondicherry, they create several delicious vegan dishes, such as the Mason & Co. Brownie, salads, main course, beverages & more that are clearly marked on their menu.

If you miss croissants, Auroville Bakery is an absolute must-visit! It’s the only eatery in India that makes vegan croissants (chocolate & almond), which are absolutely scrumptious. Plus, they serve many other vegan confections, including cakes, breads, cookies, muffins, and savories.
It’s very popular among the locals, who start pouring in from the first hour and by afternoon, most of their baked goodies go out of stock! Also, they have a serene seating area amidst lush greenery.

- Gabru Di Chaap

Soya Chaap has been gaining a huge fan following lately, owing to its uncanny similarities with meat despite being 100% vegetarian. And Gabru Di Chaap is one eatery that offers a big section of vegan chaaps on their menu.
My go-to order at this place has been the crisp and succulent Vegan Karari Chaap and their Vegan Chilli Garlic Chaap Wrap. More recently, they have introduced vegan burgers as well with a vegan mayo option and I think I found another favorite.

- Moturam Prasadam

This was a lucky find during my trip to Jaipur! I was craving for a traditional thali and after a lot of research, we found this fabulous temple-themed restaurant with a vegan thali on their menu.
Dining at Moturam Prasadam turned out to be a divine experience. Devotional hymns played in the background as we enjoyed the feast that reminded us of prasad from Indian temples. Only much later, I found out that the restaurant is famous among celebrities as well. It has been visited by actors like Varun Dhawan and Siddhant Chaturvedi.

Solitude Farm Cafe is one of the most unique vegan-friendly eateries you’d find, set deep inside a dense organic farm. You’ll literally get to feast on farm-to-table vegan food that’s full of soul and heart.

- Quyu’s Taproom

If you’re visiting Jaipur, Quyu’s Taproom is a must-visit for their lovely ambience, separate plant-based menu and delightful presentation. I vividly remember how their vegan sushi was served on a staircase-shaped tray while their Thai curry was a celebration of colors.
My favorite dish from here though was the crisp sweet potato chips — oh so good! You will also find sourdough sandwiches, ice cream and oat milk beverages.

Sante Spa Cuisine is a haven for health-conscious vegans, without a compromise on taste, textures, and presentation. Their wholesome food combined with their soothing white-green interiors make it a delight to dine here. Plus, I love the fact that over 90% of their menu is marked vegan.
If you get to visit this place, don’t miss out on their hearty soups, Asian specialties, breads and most importantly, their wide range of vegan desserts. Their Coconut-Palm Jaggery Ice Cream is simply irresistible.
Place: Bangalore, Pune, Chennai & Mumbai
- Sadak Chaap

I still distinctly remember the taste of their vegan Amritsari Phish Fry and Vegan Malai Chaap that I tried here over two years ago. They were so incredibly delicious, succulent, juicy and flavorful. I especially loved how the texture of their chaap reminded me partly of fish and partly of chicken. I am drooling as I type this. 😂
They have several other marked vegan options on their menu, such as Vegan Chaap Tikka Biryani, Vegan Chaap Manchurian, and even a dessert (vegan brownie)!

- Foo

Foo is a popular pan-Asian restaurant from Mumbai that serves some scrumptious vegan options, including sushis and dimsums.
However, one con about this place is that they are super expensive and yet, their portion sizes are extremely small. Nevertheless, their food is absolutely delish.

- The Pizza Bakery

I was thoroughly impressed with The Pizza Bakery during my visit to Bangalore for multiple reasons. Firstly, they have a separate section on their menu dedicated to vegan pizzas and vegan garlic breads. Plus, they make them with a unique coconut cheese that I haven’t tasted anywhere else in India.
What’s more? Their neapolitan pizzas are baked on wood fire, and created with a special Italian family recipe and sourdough that’s slow fermented for 24-48 hours. This makes the crust soft, light and airy with fluffy edges. We tried their Vegan Garlic Bread topped with truffled oyster mushrooms & Vegan Quattro Stagioni Pizza. Both were heavenly.

- Greenr Cafe

Over 90% of Greenr’s menu is vegan, with a special focus on clean, whole foods. But my favorite part about their menu is that they offer several Goan dishes, which is hard to find at other vegan cafés. These include Goan specialties such as Jackfruit Cafreal, Mushroom Recheado, and Xacuti.
- Lucky Chan

I love the fact that this highly-rated Japanese restaurant’s menu actually has an entire vegan sushi boat, which I haven’t found in any other Asian restaurant so far. Plus, they have several other vegan-marked options, including Dimsums, Fried Rice & Noodles.

Asro is a much-loved cosy vegan-friendly cafe in Goa that calls itself a food lab. You can easily dine at such restaurants by picking dairy free options. Also, most 5-star properties agree to veganize a few dishes.
Naturally Vegan Options You Can Easily Find In Indian Cuisine
Traditional Indian cuisine is one of the most vegan-friendly ones, if you let go of a few ingredients such as ghee and curd. A majority of the savoury vegetarian dishes from south India and states such as West Bengal, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra are naturally plant-based.
On the other hand, some North Indian states like Punjab and Rajasthan heavily use butter or curd in their veg food, making it quite difficult to get restaurants to customize. Meanwhile, north eastern states rely heavily on meat for their staple food.

Vegan Cloud Kitchens/Home Businesses From Where You Can Order
- Ode To Gaia

Ode To Gaia has been a vegan pastry lover’s dream brand, thanks to their aesthetic and gorgeous plant-based desserts. Though founder Naimita has converted it into a vegan baking school now, she hasn’t stopped getting orders and has had to keep her shop open due to the huge public demand.
Keep an eye out for her festive goodies created in vibrant Indian colors besides her bestselling cakes, macarons and entremets.
- Urban Platter
Urban Platter has one of the largest collections of plant-based products, which include their in-house as well as third-party brands. Some of their most helpful pantry and cooking essentials are vegan milk powders, tea premixes, cheese, nutritional yeast, chaap, gelatin alternatives, chocolate chips, mayonnaise and plant-based meats.
People who love making vegan Indian desserts at home, you must check out their condensed coconut milk!
- Alt Baking Co.

How can millet-based vegan desserts be so delicious? That’s what we ask ourselves every time we order the cakes from Alt Baking Co. Even my non-vegan family members have fallen in love with the Tres Leches they make with mixed vegan milks. They also offer tahini cookies, brownies and cupcakes.
- Vijay Sweets
Probably the first vegan sweet brand in India, Vijay Sweets is based in Coimbatore but has fans nationwide. Many people I know love their plant-based Mysore Pak made with chickpea flour, jaggery Kaju Katli and Elaneer Halwa. My personal favorite is their Karupatti Mysore Pak, made with palm jaggery.
TWT Trivia: Planning a vegan wedding? Vijay Sweets has started a sister brand called Green Rabbit that does plant-based catering for weddings and various events across India.
- Whitecub

When I had first tasted Whitecub’s vegan butter, I was completely awestruck. One of my personal favorite vegan brands in India, Whitecub has nailed plant-based butter with a taste and texture that’s very close to dairy butter.
Their coconut milk based ice creams are quite popular too for their creamy texture and taste, especially the Kesar Kulfi and Chocobar. They also offer competent prices, compared to other expensive vegan ice cream brands.
Did You Know?
Another great option is The Brooklyn Creamery’s range of dairy free ice creams, which can be ordered on Zomato and Swiggy in most cities. Though it’s not a completely vegan brand, it’s probably the only brand that makes plant-based ice cream cones & sandwiches.
- Imagine Meats
If you had been a hardcore non-vegetarian before turning vegan for ethical reasons, you must try Imagine Meats’ mock meat products. You will find your dream replacements of chicken!
My top favorites from their range are the biryanis.
They come with succulent mock meat pieces that surprisingly taste, feel and even smell like chicken! They also make amazing vegan kheemas, nuggets, sausages and kebabs.

- Bluetribe
Bluetribe is another popular vegan meat brand that had first gained popularity for their vegan chicken nuggets. It mimicked the taste and texture of real chicken perfectly. Today, they offer other incredible plant-based meat options as well, including delectable vegan chicken momos, tikka and kebabs.
- One Good/Nourish You
Several vegans in India who were used to daily consumption of curd & tea/coffee have been surviving due to One Good’s affordable oat milk and peanut curd. So, most of you might already know them. Nevertheless, I had to add them to the list for new vegans or others who might be considering transitioning to a plant-based lifestyle.
- Vegan Day
Have you been struggling with your dairy free milk-based drinks while traveling or at the office?
Me too! Either space has been an issue or shelf life. But, the PlantCa milk bases from Veganday
solve both these problems, because the packets are quite small & you can easily store them in your bag for several weeks until you open them. All you need to do is blend them with water in a mixer or protein shaker.
And they have tons of options such as oat, almonds, cashews & a mixed one too called Milky Magic, which is probably the best one with a creamy consistency.
- Mason & Co. Chocolates

I’ve had several international chocolates but I don’t think I’ve tasted any chocolate more delicious than this brand’s 65% semi sweet dark chocolate and 70% cacao chip dark chocolate.
Ever since I visited Pondicherry (their birthplace) and tasted their single-origin plant-based chocolates, I have been Mason & Co’s biggest fan.
You literally won’t find any ridiculous additives or preservatives in their chocolates, which truly brings out the pure flavor of cacao. They also have some flavored chocolates like rosemary, sourdough, chilli cinnamon and zesty orange.
Did You Know?
Most of Parle’s biscuits are vegan by default, including Nice, Bourbon and Hide & Seek. The same biscuits from other brands contain milk powder. Also, the imported and delicious Lotus Biscoff biscuits are naturally vegan.
TWT Experience Summary Of Vegan Restaurants In India

By now, you know that there are a plethora of options in this country for ethical eaters. Be it 100% plant-based and vegan-friendly restaurants, or naturally vegan food that’s an inherent part of Indian cuisine.
If you’re traveling through major Indian cities like Mumbai, Bangalore or Hyderabad, you’ll easily find amazing vegan restaurants such as Earth Cafe, Crave By Leena, Ewoke and Aharveda.
Tourist towns such as Pondicherry, Goa and Rishikesh also offer several options, including Terrasen, Bread & Chocolate and Bean Me UP.
And in case you’re traversing through rural parts of India, speak to the locals and ask for vegetarian food that’s free of dairy and honey. It would be easiest for you to find vegetarian food that’s vegan by default in states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Also, despite the massive growth of the plant-based movement, the truth is vegan restaurants keep shutting down regularly — owing to low-demand and other issues. Hence, we’ll make sure to keep updating this article regularly, so that our list doesn’t turn out to be disappointing for you eventually.

Frequently Asked Questions About Vegan Restaurants In India
- Is vegan the same as vegetarian?
Vegan diet is more evolved than that of a vegetarian’s. A vegan avoids all kinds of animal products including dairy and honey, due to the cruel practices involved in these industries, which range from forcefully and repeatedly impregnating cows for mass production of milk, separating the calf from the mother at a very young age, and burning the bees live for honey production.
- Which are the most vegan-friendly cities in India?
Some of the most vegan-friendly places in India for dining out are Mumbai, Bangalore, Pondicherry, Goa, and Hyderabad.
- How can you find vegan options in a non-vegan restaurant in India?
Finding vegan options in non-vegan restaurants is tricky. But you can go for the safer cuisines. For instance, among the global cuisines, I usually opt for pan-Asian vegetarian dishes as they are vegan by default in most cases. You can also order pizzas without cheese. Trust me, they taste delicious and you get the real flavor of the marinara sauce and herbs minus the cheese. When it comes to Indian cuisines, south Indian is always safer, as most north Indian dishes usually contain cream. However, always ask the staff and request them to customize.
- Does any vegan restaurant in India offer traditional Indian dishes?
There are several vegan restaurants that serve traditional Indian dishes, such as Indian thali at Aharveda (Mumbai), Jackfruit Biryani at Terrassen (Pondicherry), and Millet Junnu & Saddiannam at Vibrant Living (Hyderabad).
- Which are the best naturally vegan street food options in India?
Some of the most delicious vegan street foods of India are Pani Puri (also called Gol Gappa or Phuchka), Vada Pav, Mirchi Bajji, Punugulu, Dal Wada, Papdi Chaat, Misal Pav, Kachori, and Samosa.
- Is veganism booming in India?
Veganism has been growing rapidly in India over the last few years, especially in tier 1 cities, where people are more aware of the cruelty involved in the dairy industry. That’s why many non-vegan restaurants offer at least 1-2 vegan options on their menu these days. However, the movement still needs more widespread awareness for it to grow larger than what it currently is.
- Can I find desserts, plant-based dairy options and gluten-free dishes in India’s vegan restaurants?
Most vegan restaurants of India serve at least a few desserts, gluten-free options and alternate dairy products such as oat milk, almond milk, cashew cheese, coconut butter, peanut curd and soy cream.
