Are you wondering if Juhu Beach is worth visiting during your Mumbai trip? If the popularity of the famous landmark has got you here, you have landed on the right page.
I have personally visited Juhu Beach during all of my 3 visits to Mumbai over the last few years. And, I can confidently say that it offers a one-of-a-kind experience that you might not find on any other beach across the world!
No, Juhu Beach is not for you if you are only looking for a quiet, clean and peaceful beach with no hawkers. Because the 5-km-long stretch is actually one of the most crowded beaches you’d ever find! But, once you spend some time here, you will realize it has its own unmatched energy and vibe.
So, let’s begin the article with the top highlights of my visits to Juhu Beach in Mumbai.

Best Part About Our Visit To Juhu Beach — The Night Vibe
My first 2 visits to Juhu Beach were for around an hour each before sunset (sometime between 4 & 5 PM). Both times, we just took a stroll on the sand, watched the therapeutic waves of the Arabian sea, and let the water play peek-a-boo with our feet before leaving.
But during my third & most recent visit (February 2024), we reached around sunset and stayed for several hours, till almost 9 PM. This is when we realized that Juhu beach comes alive in its full glory after sunset!
As soon as the sun went down, we found a person offering straw mats on rent for just INR 50. We decided to get one for the next few hours. Once we made ourselves comfortable on the mat, staff from the seaside street food stalls started bringing their menus to the beach.
There were options of chaats, fried foods, sandwiches, noodles and a lot more. We started with ordering the iconic Vada Pav and it was totally worth the hype! The setup and arrangements felt like having our own personalized picnic on the beach with our favorite foods at our disposal.
We followed it up with Potato Twisters and Steamed Momos, which were equally delicious. It was a delight to munch on the piping hot snacks while watching the sea water gleaming under the moonlight, as the cool breeze brushed across our faces.
There were also other hawkers offering mehndi (henna) art on palms, and head massage (with oil), while some sold accessories and sugar candies. Meanwhile, numerous kids on the beach displayed their creative sand art skills.
You will also find many photographers offering to click your pictures and give you a printed copy instantly. So, we opted to get a photo of ourselves as a souvenir.
TWT Tip: While you have a gala time at the beach and savor your favorite street food, remember to act responsibly. Do not litter around the beach & store your waste plastic/paper in your own bag or pocket until you find a dustbin. Kindly refrain from leaving sharp objects on the beach, as it could hurt the stray dogs, who have as much rights on the beach as we humans do.
10 Things To Do At Juhu Beach, Mumbai
# Indulge in local delicacies – Can you imagine enjoying Mumbai’s world-famous street foods on a beach? This is actually possible in Juhu Beach, as it’s lined by several stalls that serve delicious street food. You don’t even have to walk up to them. Some of them bring their menus to the beach and serve you right there!
We tried Vada Pav, Veg Momos, and Potato Twister, and all of them were absolutely delicious. Some vendors were also selling sugar candies and corn cobs. You can even sip on some fresh coconut water at the end of your beach picnic.
# Enjoy a head massage – This might not be for everyone, but I have seen vendors offer a 30-minute head massage on the beach with the hair oil they carry. A man sitting close to us actually opted for it! Half way through, we could see that his eyes were shut and he seemed to be in complete relaxation mode. So, it’s like finding your own massage therapist on the beach.
# Go for a relaxing walk or jog – Nothing can match the feeling of walking barefoot on sandy beaches while soaking in the views of the endless water and the sky. Regardless of whether you’re alone or with company, this activity can be quite therapeutic. You can also choose to go for an early morning jog or yoga on the beach.
# Get an instant photograph – While beaches make for a perfect backdrop for clicking Insta-worthy pictures on your phone, Juhu Beach also has many photographers who offer to shoot your photograph on their DSLR cameras. They will give you a printed copy of the photo instantly for a certain amount, which is usually negotiable.
# Stare at the sea during sunset/sunrise – The canvas of Mumbai’s skyline painted in glowing reds, blues and yellows, as the sea water glimmers during sunrise and sunset, can be a visual treat! Try not to miss the sunset at Juhu Beach for a memorable experience.

# Natural salt water therapy – I visited Juhu Beach after a long day at a tourism exhibition, where I had to walk continuously for 3 hours and my legs were aching. To my surprise, after I kept my feet and legs dipped in the sea water for 15-20 minutes, my leg muscles started to relax and the pain seemed to vanish! It was rejuvenating for the mind too. People living in beach cities have such a huge boon in the form of natural salt water therapy.
# Get mehndi (henna) art done on your palms – While we were seated on the beach, many mehndi artists came along to ask if I was interested in getting a design done on my palms. Though it’s not for me, you could opt for a cool henna design while you relax on the beach.
# Go for watersports or boating – If you’re into adventures, this is definitely for you. Juhu beach has multiple watersports and boating companies from where you can rent a boat or try your hand at activities like parasailing, jet ski ride, zorbing and kayaking.
# Watch sand artists’ creativity – Occasionally, professional sand artists create stunning sand sculptures on this beach. The themes are often based on latest happenings around the world, the most recent one being a sand replica of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple. Even if there’s no such activity happening on the day you visit, you will find enough kids trying their hands at building cute sand castles to entertain yourself.
# Shop for souvenirs – From handicrafts to fun toys like bubble guns, you will find many hawkers selling products at affordable prices that you can take back home for kids or just as a souvenir from your Mumbai trip.
Note: Though Juhu Beach also has horse rides, monkey trainers and snake charmers to entertain tourists, we are strongly against supporting, encouraging or promoting any kind of recreational activities that involve animal abuse for human entertainment.
