Best Part About Promenade Beach, Puducherry

Promenade beach Pondicherry

The main highlight of Promenade Beach is its close proximity to Pondicherry’s French Quarters — home to several heritage stays, happening cafes and local boutiques. So, early in the morning, we would take a quick 3-minute walk from our hotel to catch the sunrise at the beach.

Then again, post lunch at one of the many popular eateries in the vicinity, we would walk back to the well-maintained beach and spend hours savoring the sea breeze and endless turquoise waters.

As dusk would set in, the vibrant hues of the beachfront would be replaced by brightly-lit streets and busy chatter of visitors. We would all stay there till our eyes shut off, and then walk back to our hotel to retire for the day.

Over the last 3 decades, climate change had caused a drastic erosion of the sandy shores of Promenade Beach. In 2017, the Puducherry government restored the beach to its original glory with the support of the National Institute Of Ocean Technology.
