Taj Krishna – A Luxe Stay In Hyderabad: Hotel Review

It was our 4th wedding anniversary. My husband knew that a staycation at Hyderabad’s Taj Krishna had been on my wishlist for years. Finally, he decided to surprise me by booking a stay at this luxurious, award-winning 5-star property. 

But why was this hotel on my bucket list? And, how did our experience turn out to be? You will find our detailed review of Taj Krishna in this article, along with important details such as price of the rooms, amenities they offer and answers to frequently asked questions. Let’s begin. 

Best Part Of Our Stay At Taj Krishna Hyderabad 

As a lifestyle journalist, I had visited the hotel’s restaurants and event halls several times. What always left me mesmerized about Taj Krishna was its old world charm. 

While most other hotels in Hyderabad adopted modern luxury, Taj Krishna proudly celebrated the opulence of Indian heritage. This was also reflected in the rooms and every corner of the hotel — from the walkways to the furniture, the crockery to the decor. 

A walk across the ground floor garden and pool area can transport you to the sets of Jodha Akbar, while the plethora of dishes they offer in their breakfast buffet is well-suited for a royal appetite. 

I also personally loved how inclusive their food menu was. Taj Krishna’s restaurant menus clearly list allergen ingredients such as milk, sesame, soya, nuts, fish and eggs. This makes it very convenient for guests with gluten or lactose intolerance, vegetarians, and even vegans like me. It doesn’t end here. 

Their chef at the breakfast buffet also offered to customize a few dishes for us to make them dairy-free. This made our day, more than anything else! 

Plus, the staff surprised us with an anniversary cake at dinner. No, they had no idea that I was going to write this article.

The Room At Taj Krishna Hyderabad

 

Taj Krishna has 248 rooms and 13 suites you can choose from. These include the Presidential Suite, Taj Club Room, Deluxe Suite, Luxury Suite, Deluxe rooms and Luxury rooms. Some of them offer a view of the iconic Hussain Sagar Lake, which is just around 4 km away from here.

We stayed at a Deluxe Room, which came with a view of the hotel’s garden, an elegant couch, tea and coffee essentials, bathrobes, closet, ironing machine, TV, WiFi and of course the most comfortable spring bed. 

The bathroom had a partitioned shower area with bath products from the luxury Ayurveda brand, Forest Essentials. Do I even need to begin explaining about the soothing aroma of the shampoo and body wash? Let me be quick — it was thoroughly rejuvenating!

The Food At Taj Krishna Hyderabad

There are several restaurants in Taj Krishna that serve a variety of cuisines, ranging from Chinese (at Golden Dragon), Hyderabadi & Indian (at Firdaus) and Finger Food (at Seasons Bar & Lounge as well as the Tea Lounge). The hotel also has multi-cuisine restaurants called Alfresco (open-air) and Encounters, where they set up the buffet breakfast everyday. 

Although I had dined at Firdaus many years ago, it would be fair to only talk about Golden Dragon and Encounters, where we had meals more recently during our staycation. 

The service and hospitality at both these restaurants were top-notch and surpassed our expectations. We loved how sweetly they brought us a cake to celebrate our anniversary and offered to customize a few dishes for us at the breakfast buffet. 

Here are the dishes we tried: 

Dinner at Golden Dragon

•  Traditional Hot & Sour Veg Soup: This felt perfect for cold or rainy evenings as the thick soup was generously spiced with pepper and a hint of tanginess. 
• Truffle Edamame Dumplings: One of my favorite Dim Sum flavors, the truffle edamame filling melted in the first bite while the dumpling’s outer coating was done to perfection. 
• Steamed Canton Veg Siumai: The flavors were relatively more subtle, yet delicious, and paired beautifully with the soy sauce dip. 
• Orange Darsaan: These crunchy fried flat noodles were coated in a delicious orange syrup and a generous drizzling of sesame seeds on top. You will truly enjoy the crunch and the combination of the sweet syrup with the toasted sesame!

Breakfast buffet at Encounters: 

• There was a huge spread of breakfast items, including fruits, nuts, salad, Pav Bhaji, Alu Paratha, Vada, juices, Indian & western desserts, breads and non-vegetarian foods. 
• We loved the strawberry preserve & orange marmalade that were served with toast. 
• The Stewed Pineapples (infused in spiced cinnamon-sugar water) is another must-try. 
• Also, don’t miss the Masala Dosa and Uthappam they serve at the poolside live counter.

12:30 pm to 2:45 pm & 7:30 pm to 11:45 pm – Golden Dragon & Firdaus;
24 hours – Encounters;
11:30 am to 11:45 pm – Seasons Bar & Lounge;
7:30 pm to 11:45 pm (October to March) – Alfresco;
10 am to 8 pm – Tea Lounge

Cleanliness At Taj Krishna Hyderabad

As you might expect with a hotel like this, every corner was spick and span, with not an ounce of dust or dirt spotted at any corner. The rooms and bathrooms were also very neatly arranged, with all the essentials placed at the right, accessible spots. The cutlery at the restaurants were thoroughly sanitized and placed inside paper envelopes to prevent contamination. So, you will probably not have any hygiene complaints during your stay at Taj Krishna. 

Other Amenities & Services At Taj Krishna Hyderabad

Besides a luxurious stay and delicious fare at their restaurants, Taj Krishna offers activities for kids, high-end boutiques, in-room dining, smoking rooms and personalized butler service. 

And of course, you can expect basic facilities like laundry, yoga kit on request, work stations, conference rooms, travel desk and babysitting services. 

TWT Tip: For special occasions or proposals, Taj Krishna arranges for private dining and romantic candle-light dinners by the pool or at their lush green lawn. So let them know if you’re celebrating something important.

Location Of Taj Krishna Hyderabad  

Taj Krishna is located in the heart of Hyderabad, Banjara Hills. The location is the city’s center, which connects the Secunderabad area and Old City to the rest of Hyderabad, making it easily accessible from all sides. 

The IT hub is a 20-30 minutes drive away, while the most popular restaurants, pubs and cafes of Hyderabad can be found in the neighboring Jubilee Hills. They can be reached within 5-15 minutes from the hotel. 

In terms of tourist spots, Hussain Sagar Lake, Lumbini Park, Salarjung Museum, NTR Garden, Chowmahalla Palace, Golkonda Fort, and the pearl & bangle shops at Old City are the nearby attractions to Taj Krishna. You can also cover the rest of the city easily in a taxi or metro.

Taj Krishna scores several plus points, ranging from the personalized services, luxurious vibe, sprawling lawns, variety of rooms, world cuisines, jacuzzi and wellness services.

The only con about Taj Krishna is that it may not be accessible for everyone due to its pricing. However, you can look out for deals and discounts as explained in the FAQs section below. As a dog mom, I also wish they start allowing pets at some point.

And how can we forget? Indulging in Taj Krishna’s delectable culinary specialties can make you feel like the modern day royalty. Most importantly, they receive extra brownie points from us for being inclusive towards the specially-abled guests, offering to veganize dishes for me at the breakfast buffet, and trying to make us feel special on our wedding anniversary.
